EFSOYC Project; Youth Led Innovation and Food Security

Enhancing Community Food Security in Urban and Rural Areas through Outreach Youth Champions (EFSOYC) is our new collaborative project hosted by Kenyatta University.

The project adopts a participatory approach to contribute to enhancement of food security in line with the Kenya government Big Four Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals. This project leverages on the potential of youth to drive food security in rural and urban communities. It is designed to empower competitively selected youth to implement innovative food security initiatives a period of one year. It is envisaged that these innovative initiatives will be self-sustaining and enhance food security in the community at large.

In pursuit of SDG 2, the Kenya Government Big Four agenda on Food Security and the Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for Africa (STISA-2024) priority area on Eradication of Hunger and Achieving Food Security, the project adopts an innovative and participatory approach to contribute to enhancement of food security. This pilot project will leverage on the potential of youth to drive food security efforts in their local communities by using an Outreach Youth Champions (OYC) model and existing community organization structures.
