Our dynamic team is looking for an experienced Advanced ICT Instructor to join our team. The role is within the frame of our innovative Girls’ and Women’s IT & Social Entrepreneurship training Digital Incubation Programs in Kenya. We are seeking to recruit an Advanced ICT Instructor to spearhead our training and innovation program and help participants transition into the digital work ecosystem. The program is implemented jointly by EmpServe Kenya & W4.

Empower and Serve Kenya (EmpServe) is a nonprofit organisation that is committed to supporting and building the capacities of young women and local communities to develop solutions that have a social impact. We emphasize IT skills enhancement, enterprise development, and transitioning young women to jobs, further training, or running successful social enterprises. To optimize opportunities in the digital economy and address the challenges of unemployment for youth; we have implemented several training programs.

The ideal candidate must:
  • Have a Degree in Computer Science, ICT or a relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrate at least 3+ yrs of proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role.
  • Have experience developing desktop and mobile applications (share relevant links where applicable).
  • Have knowledge of multiple front-end languages and libraries (HTML/ CSS, JavaScript, XML, jQuery).
  • Have knowledge of multiple back-end languages (C#, Java, Python) and JavaScript frameworks (Angular, React, Node.js).
  • Demonstrate familiarity with databases (MySQL, MongoDB), web servers (e.g. Apache) and UI/UX design.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Have great attention to details.

The successful candidate will undertake below tasks, among others;
  • Coordinate design and delivery of training programs.
  • Collaborate in curriculum development and innovation to align with industry standards.
  • Cultivate a collaborative learning environment essential for guiding trainees and improving the quality of their projects.
  • Foster partnerships within the tech industry while creating opportunities for participants in collaboration with industry networks.
  • Manage continuous monitoring and evaluation to assess trainee progress and provide regular progress reports to management and stakeholders.
  • Identify areas for improvement and recommend additional resources or training interventions as needed.
